Hardy perennial reaching about 75cm/30" high with pretty blue, hooded flowers from midsummer.
Medicinally, the leaves are harvested in early summer, dried and used as a nervine and mild sedative for the calming and relieving of headaches, depression, anxiety and insomnia. Its restorative properties are thought to support and nourish the nervous system. Normally taken as a tea or tincture.
It is advised not to be used by pregnant women.
