Vigorous shrub reaching 2m tall with pretty pink flowers. Stems are very prickly making it ideal for use as hedging (planted 60cm/2ft apart) as it serves well as a barrier against unwanted visitors. Easy to grow plant – does well in most soils and is tolerant of some drought and maritime salt exposure.
Fruits abundantly (ripening mid to late summer) and produces very large, edible hips which are high in vitamin C.
A tea can be made from the fruit - either fresh or dried. Petals can also be eaten - a pretty addition to salads.
