Motherwort (Leonurus cardiaca)

Hardy perennial reaching 1.5m/5ft high with whorls of dusky purple flowers in summer.

Prefers open, sunny position.  Self-seeds readily.

The aerial parts of the Motherwort plant are used medicinally as a calming, soothing tea or as a tincture.  It is thought to be useful for circulatory conditions and as an aid to relieve over-rapid heartbeat caused by anxiety and tension.

Always consult a professional before using herbs medicinally
