Culinary uses – great addition to salads – can be eaten raw or cooked. Makes a lovely herbal tea.
Medicinal uses – as a tea made from the leaves – treatment for colds, coughs, fevers, and respiratory problems as it contains Thymol. Gargling with plants that contain thymol helps to fight sore throats and throat infections. It also has antiseptic and antibacterial properties.
Other uses - The essential oil of lemon bergamot contains citronellol, which makes for a useful insect repellent when plant is rubbed on skin.
