Elecampane (Inula helenium)

A tall perennial reaching 1.5m/5ft high with bright yellow daisy-like flowers from –August.

Prefers moist soil and a sunny position.

Elecampane has a long history of use as a medicinal herb. It has been used to treat ailments of the chest/lung and digestive problems.  Also known as Scabwort, and being one of the most antiseptic and antibacterial herbs available, it can be used topically to help wounds that won’t heal over.
