Common Mullein (Verbascum thapsus)

Mullein is a biennial plant that in its first year of growth forms a rosette of large 'fuzzy' leaves about 1 foot long. In its second year it will send up a velvety flower stem 4-8 feet tall with 5-petalled, yellow flowers from June to September.

Mullein tea is a traditional treatment for respiratory problems such as asthma, bronchitis and chest colds. Leaf tea is slightly bitter. Using the flowers produces a sweeter flavour.
