A short-lived perennial - Asparagus kale is a heritage variety of kale producing a leaf crop through the winter, and in spring sends up young shoots that can be blanched and eaten like asparagus. If shoots are picked regularly, they can keep producing until June.
Reputed to be one of the tastiest of kales, relatively dwarf, hardy and prolific.
