Organically grown, well rooted Asparagus Pea plants.
A great ground cover and nitrogen fixing plant with gorgeous dark red flowers. It is a herbaceous, annual legume endemic to the Mediterranean region.
The flowers are followed by a prolific crop of winged pods, which should be picked young, at about 2.5cm long and eaten whole. They have a flavour similar to asparagus.
They like full sun and well-drained soil. Support with twiggy pea sticks, or just allow plants to scramble.
Harvest June – August. It will crop all summer long if picked regularly.
